The Hardships of Filming a Cover Music Video

For our group project, we decided to go with covering a music video. The music video that we decide to do was Heize and Dean’s “And July”. We thought that it would be a pretty easy shoot to do because the setting and the acting wasn’t that complicated. Boy, were we wrong! One day, we spent a total of seven hours of working on filming and we weren’t even close to being halfway done with the music video. It was extremely hard to get shots that we filmed to match up correctly with the original music video. It really showed me how extremely tough and tiring it is to film a music video.

I played the role of Dean within the music video for our group project. It was extremely hard on me during this time because I had an allergic reaction earlier in the week before we started filming. I went to the doctor to get some antibiotics to help my body get over this allergic reaction. The tole of filming for several hours and my body trying to heal itself was extremely hard on myself. It also made me self conscious because I had to portray a role in front of the camera while I still had the scarring and rashes from my allergic reaction.

I have great respect for actors and artists who work to film things because it is an extremely long and tiring process. I also give props to those who work behind the scenes in music videos and films because the behind the work is extremely hard as well from set design to lighting. I learned this by watching and trying to help my directors in doing all I could because I got to witness how much work is put into getting a shot to look perfect on film.
